One post that has been highly requested is What I Eat in a Day - so today I thought I would give you a glimpse into my typical meals and snacks! Eating as healthy as I would like is pretty challenging to do as a busy high schooler, but I try my best to get a balance of nutritious and not so nutritious foods everyday. In addition to what I eat, I try to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, even though it doesn't always happen. Everything I eat really varies on the day, what food we have in my house and what season it is, but what I've included below is a pretty good idea of a typical school day of food for me!
Breakfast:
Green smoothie (Trader Joe's Very Green Juice is my favorite!)
{or}
A piece of fruit
{or}
A Chobani yogurt with fruit and granola
**I'm not very hungry early in the morning, but I try to get some sort of fruit to get my body awake.
Snack:
Wheat Thins multigrain crackers
{or}
Skinny Pop popcorn
{or}
Rold Gold pretzels
**I like something a little salty during the day, so I try to choose something that isn't terrible for me.
Lunch:
Grilled chicken, a salad with lots of veggies, a piece of fruit and a cookie
**We aren't allowed to bring our own lunches at school, so what I eat for lunch really varies everyday. I try to stick to the routine of: a meat, salad, fruit and a little something unhealthy everyday.
Dinner:
Whole grain pasta, tomato sauce, grilled zucchini and whole grain garlic bread
**My dinner also depends a lot on what day it is (aka wing night on the occasional Tuesday thanks to my dad).
Dessert/ Snack:
A piece of chocolate
{or}
A small ice cream bar
{or}
Berries with whipped cream
**I love eating something sweet after dinner while I'm studying... especially something chocolate! During the winter I'll get a hot chocolate from Starbucks but lately I've been really into berries and whipped cream.
I hope you enjoyed this look into what I eat in a day! I'll sometimes sneak another snack in after school before dinner, but with lacrosse until 5 I've been eating dinner earlier!
I'm curious to know... are your meals similar?
xoxo
Allowing yourself an occasional piece of chocolate makes such a big difference throughout the day. This berries with whipped cream is something I definitely need to try!
